About
Eryn Dorsey, LCSW-S
Education and Background
I am an LCSW supervisor with over 15 years of experience in mental health. I grew up in a military household and had the pleasure of living all over the world in various different cultures. I moved to Alaska in 2000 where I received my BSW in 2012 and my MSW in 2014 with a generalist focus.
Experience
I have worked with adolescents and children in acute care inpatient facilities, hospitals, hospice, outpatient facilities and currently private practice. I am trained in EMDR but I have interests and experience with many different modalities including play therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and many more. Much of my current cases revolve around trauma but I have worked extensively with grief, depression, anxiety and psychosis. One of the biggest things I do when conducting clinical work is to offer a nonjudgemental space for people to feel welcome. I believe people come to therapy because they don't feel like their best selves and I want to help them reach their goals.
Who I am and style
People who know me know I love to talk and educate. Many of my friends and peers have said I am a natural when it comes to supervision and wroking through cases. As your supervisor I want to provide you with the critical thinking skills and education to create your own style as a clinician and help your clients. I expect supervisees to be honest with me when they run into hurdles and come to sessions prepared with case examples, a willingness to learn and imagination.
